What travelers say:
We went here for our anniversary. Kind of private looking from the outside. Nice, warm, wood-colored ambience when we walked in at 3:30 p.m. Good air conditioning. We were seated immediately, and only waited a few minutes on our server. She was friendly and efficient and got us a taster of a brown ale quickly. She also got us samples of an Anchor Steam beer and some Bitburger. We decided on pints of the brown ale (sorry, cannot remember what brand it was). We started out with the beers and salt and pepper shrimp. The shrimp was an appetizer and consisted of 8 shrimp,, very lightly floured and quickly and carefully deep fried. It was sweet and tender and had just enough salt on it. The pepper added a pleasant slight zing. Very good and recommended. He ordered their pastrami sandwich: Immense portion of well-smoked house-made pastrami on what looked to be some sort of grilled rye. I snagged a taste of the pastrami and WOW! VERY smoky, very moist and had the texture of shaved steak--it was fantastic. And did I tell you I liked the smoke flavor? Excellent. He wolfed down half of that sandwich (only half--he was saving room for dessert). I asked about a smaller house-type salad (not on the menu) and they had one. Baby mixed greens with a slightly sweet vinaigrette on. It was fresh and did not have too much dressing on it. I had the Blackened rib eye steak; but I just had it grilled and had the blackening left off. It came on a warm plate with a small pat of butter melting atop, next to some good house made mashed potatoes (also with a pat of butter on top). The mashed potatoes were good but the steak was absolutely fantastic. Perfectly medium-rare. Seasoned pleasantly, with a nice sear on the steak and the edging fat. And the flavor: I am not joking, it was the best piece of beef that I have had in a long, long time. It was juicy through and through, had a wonderful beefy flavor and was not stringy or sinewy at all. Wait, it was the BEST steak, and I highly recommend it.
